What is Linseed Oil/Flaxseed Oil?
Oil flax is mainly planted in Canada, China, Argentina, the United States, and India. It has become one of the top ten oil crops in the world, with its output accounting for the seventh. According to the FAO statistics, in China flax harvested area is about 500 thousand hectares, only less than that in Canada and India, ranked the third, and own about 18 percent of the world area; the total production is about 480 thousand tons, which is only less than Canada, ranked second, and accounting for 17% of the world production.
Widely distributed in the provinces like Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Hebei and so on. Among the 6 major flax producing provinces (regions) , Gansu with the annual average acreage of 140.9 thousand hectares, is the largest growing area in China, accounting about 32%. Shanxi holds 77.6 thousand hectares, ranking second; Inner Mongolia is 66.2 thousand hectares, ranking third, followed by Ningxia, Hebei, and Xinjiang. From the total production, Gansu Province annual average production is 158 thousand tons, accounting for about 41% of total flax production, ranked first, followed by Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shanxi, Hebei and Xinjiang. As unit area yield fluctuating, Xinjiang gets the highest in the 6 main flax producing provinces (regions) , reaching 1495kg / hm2, 73 percent higher than the national average; Gansu is 1116kg / hm2, in the second place.
